Here is my write-up from Totem Resolve:
Growing up in Detroit, Michigan “Big Sean” was exposed to many different parts of life; from the street hustlers to struggling musicians, Detroit is a city that can make a young man grow up very quickly. Unlike many rappers from his generation, Sean didn’t get discovered online or through a social media site. In 2005, he heard KanYe West would be appearing a local radio station so he made his way down there for a chance to meet and rap for him. It’s said that once Sean started rapping in that radio station hallway, Ye took notice and although he wasn’t signed on the spot, he took a copy of Sean’s demo tape with him. 2 years later (2007) Sean was officially signed to G.O.O.D. Music and has been preparing for his debut album with a slew of mixtapes, videos and national TV appearances.
On Friday, May 20th 2011 G.O.O.D. Music’s own Big Sean was at the Kool Haus to rock a packed house with songs from his mixtapes and upcoming album (Set to release on June 21st) called “Finally Famous”.
The media team from TotemResolve.com (Big Philly, RJ Building Bridges, Cusi Perspective, Nicholas Boss & Howeslyfe) was on-site at the private “Meet & Greet” before the show to present Sean with a custom skateboard deck.
Special thanks to Lola Plaku for setting it all up and Big Sean for taking the time to chat with us.
