I remember first seeing Air Jordan + OVO collaborations in person last year, it was the all-black Jordan 12 with subtle hits of gold and the same bubbled texture that you see on the upper of the 10s. They looked clean, shortly after that pics surfaced online of those and a predominantly white version (again with gold accents) which started to get people buzzing about a possible release.
Fast forward to this past April:
Two colours of the Air Jordan 10 Retro OVO are released (unannounced) at the OVO pop-up shop in LA. No promo. If you were lucky enough to swing by the pop-up shop that day, then you had the chance to grab a pair. Needless to say, people (who care about sneakers) are in a frenzy. So many questions. Will they release again? Why LA?
Fast forward to Caribana/OVO Fest weekend:
Drake is seen wearing a 3rd pair of Air Jordan + OVO sneakers, this time it was the Retro 8 in white and gold at OVO Fest in Toronto (nobody who’s actually from here calls it “The 6”).
Anticipation was at an all-time high and then it happened:

This is a special collaboration, it’s a rapper/artist and the most iconic sneaker brand in the world. Without Jordan there would be no sneaker culture, we know this. Add in the fact that its with a Toronto kid? It’s a wrap.
Thank you to my people who made this crazy limited release very smooth and stress free.
