Nike has always been incredible at telling a story and they also allow brand fanatics, athletes & sneaker enthusiasts like myself to tell our own stories.
On Sunday, December 6th, 2015 Nike officially released a pair of Air Max 1’s nicknamed “The 6” and designed in-house by Canadian, Erin Cochrane. This shoe is the first ever official “Toronto” sneaker and was exclusively released here first (international release to follow later this month). The Air Max 1 (originally released in ’87) is one of the most iconic silhouettes and to be outfitted with Toronto-centric design elements is the ultimate tribute. It’s been a long time coming, but Toronto now has it’s own shoe to be proud of.
Red Maple Leaf on the tongue tab, CN Tower on the insole, all white air max unit on heel (will be great for salty winters), “N” embroidery on the heel as well as a compass. Also, both old & new school are acknowledged with “T.O” and “The 6” stitched into the inside of the tongue.
This is just the beginning of the story.
